Marmaduke Dando has been a supporter of the Dark Mountain project since its inception. He has played with his band at the Uncivilisation festivals, organised some of the festivals' musical programme, and curated the compilation record of uncivilised music, "From the Mourning of the World".
Often described as the bard of disempire, a crooner of morose ballads and fiery diatribes, and eliciting references to The Bad Seeds, Roxy Music, and Scott Walker. Of his music, Steve Lamacq, BBC6 Music, has said it’s “…distinctively haunting…”, and Paul Kingsnorth, Dark Mountain co-founder, called it "The perfect antidote to the dystopia we find ourselves in”.
His second album, 'Sweet Dregs', released in July 2013, is available now on CD through the Dark Mountain shop.
